MACROBIOTIC RESIDENTIAL COURSE

MACROBIOTIC PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

THIS SPECIAL 11 DAY COURSE IS MADE UP OF RESIDENTIAL TRAININGS IN ENGLAND AND SCOTLAND

This course has been designed to give you a complete experience of macrobiotics. It includes macrobiotic cooking, healing, philosophy, self diagnosis and shiatsu massage.

The course will take students through a comprehensive education covering all the key aspects of macrobiotics.This course will form part of a two year training that will prepare you to become a recognised Macrobiotic Cook and Health Advisor with the Macrobiotic Association of Great Britain.

MACROBIOTIC COURSE CURRICULUM

There are 44 classes spread over 11 days. Each class will last one and a half hours.

SCOTLAND

DAY ONE – 24/5/09

1 Introduction and orientation. How to make the most of the rest of your life.

2 Macrobiotic History from Lao Tsu, Buddha and Hippocrates to George Ohsawa, Michio Kushi and current teachers. A look at the ideologies that contribute to macrobiotics – Greek philosophy, Zen, Tao, Buddhism, evolution, healing, medicine and nutrition.

3 Creating a personal definition for macrobiotics. What is it? Diet, philosophy, principles?

4 Living with awareness. Meditation and exercises to be more aware of our relationships to our food, environment and universe.

DAY TWO – 25/5/09

5 Cooking class – conscious cooking, cooking with love and awareness.

6 Cooking class – conscious cooking, cooking with love and awareness.

7 Cooking class – conscious cooking, cooking with love and awareness.

8 Cooking class – conscious cooking, cooking with love and awareness.

DAY THREE – 26/5/09

9 Shiatsu.

10 Shiatsu.

11 Shiatsu.

12 Shiatsu.

DAY FOUR – 27/5/09

13 Cooking class – breakfasts.

14 Cooking class - soups.

15 Cooking class – grains, beans and vegetables.

16 Cooking class – deserts.

DAY FIVE – 28/5/09

17 Beauty, facial and massage.

18 Intentions, imprints and love.

19 Healing.

20 Self love and healing – reality, assumptions, judgements and expectations.

DAY SIX – 29/5/09

21 Macrobiotics as a diet – nutrition, energy of foods, healing and food, keeping a food diary.

22 Macrobiotics as principles – acid/alkaline, yin/yang, five elements.

23 Listening to our bodies – energy, sleep, moods, appetite, urination, bowel movements, skin, breathing, meditation, exercise, saliva ph, pulses.

24 Personal ethics and philosophy of life.

ENGLISH CAMP

DAY SEVEN – 11/8/09

25 Developing intuition – exercises and discussion.

26 Responsibility individual and collective – honesty, self awareness and focus.

27 Cooking class – Cooking alkaline forming dishes.

28 Cooking class – Cooking low GI meals.

DAY EIGHT – 12/8/09

29 Yin and yang.

30 The Five elements.

31 Cooking class – cooking with herbs and making teas.

32 Cooking class - Seasonings, sauces and condiments.

DAY NINE – 13/8/09

33 Energy in the human – chakras – meridians – acupressure points - Do In exercise, stretching and shiatsu.

34 Cooking class – Salads and raw foods.

35 Cooking class – Fish.

36 Cooking class – creating meals for different moods, seasons, weather.

DAY TEN – 14/8/09

37 Emotions and health – an exploration of stress, anger, fear, anxiety, cravings and habits and how they relate to our health.

38 Nutrition – fats, proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates, minerals, phyto nutrients, antioxidants and fermentation.

39 Cooking class – Being aware of different needs – dishes for babies, children, active adults and the elderly.

40 Cooking class – Students make their own meals under supervision.

DAY ELEVEN – 15/8/09

41 Cooking class – Students make their own meals under supervision.

42 Cooking class – Students make their own meals under supervision.

43 Speaking from the heart – interacting with society, friends, family and colleagues. Communicating your macrobiotic experience. Giving talks and sharing your journey.

44 Students give a presentation.

FORMAT

The course consists of 11 days of training plus homework assignments.

Each day will consist of six hours tuition

Course with residential camping £640

Course with single room £880

Fees include food at residentials and you will be free to jion in the many other activities at the residentials.

Discounts - detuct £100 under 27s, deduct a further £100 for bookings before 31/3/09.
